The well-known bar La Tana in Granada has been ranked the fifteenth best tapas place in the world by food experts at Taste Atlas. This website is an encyclopedia that compiles the best traditional dishes and restaurants worldwide and has a million followers on Instagram.
La Tana is located in the attractive Realejo neighbourhood and opened its doors 31 years ago with the intention of exalting the city's gastronomic culture through quality cold tapas. Today, more than 18 food critics praise its potential. "It's wonderful news. It means a lot to have the work of the whole team recognised in this way," says Jesús González, the proud owner.
One of the most important experts who has given this position to the bar is Anthony Bourdain, American chef, TV presenter and writer. “Yes, I could eat this all day. It’s true, tapas are free and shouldn’t work, but somehow they do. Another drink, another tapa. Tomato, olive oil and bread,” wrote the winner of several Michelin stars during his visit to the tavern.
“We remember his visit fondly. I think it was about eleven years ago, in 2013. He was delighted with the food, the wine and the city,” they recall from the bar. “When he passed away, we received a portrait of him made by the illustrator Mikel Casal,” says one of the waitresses while pointing to the wall where the painting is hanging. “It was surely sent because of the love he had for this place.
