The Local Police of Guadix has freed a 19-year-old girl, originally from Romania, who was a victim of sexual exploitation in a hotel located in the town. She was forced into prostitution by a couple from Baza - who have already been arrested - and to be available "24 hours a day."
It all began when the agents observed the victim on a street in the town. Due to her attitude and behaviour, they suspected that she could be a victim of trafficking. After a thorough investigation, as explained by the Local Police of Guadix, they were able to gather information that showed that a man and a woman from Baza had been the ones who were in charge of the entry of the young woman into the country with the intention of sexually exploiting her, taking advantage of her vulnerable situation. Once she arrived in Spain, she was forced to work as a prostitute and had to be available "24 hours a day". In addition, she had to give those involved a large part of the money obtained.
The local agents also confirmed that the two residents of Baza had been under investigation for some time by the Provincial Brigade of Immigration and Borders, of the National Police Corps of Granada. Once all the data had been collected, the local agents contacted this body and gave them all the information related to the events for the continuation of the investigation.
The National Police officers subsequently arrested the man and the woman in Baza, who have been accused of the crimes of human trafficking for the purposes of sexual exploitation and coercion. The Local Police of Guadix appreciates the collaboration of several National Police officers from Baza and the National Police of Granada, "without whom these criminal acts would continue to occur."
